"mazda616" (mazda616)

Spent hours detailing the Sunbird yesterday and she rewards me by puking antifreeze all over the garage floor. I think it’s coming from the reservoir. Either that or the hose attached to the bottom of it. The radiator is new and all of its attached hoses are bone dry. Literally everywhere is except for the circled area and the fender-well below it. What is the hose at the bottom called, exactly? Does anyone know? Every Google search tries to direct me to SunFIRE parts instead of SunBIRD.

Coolant overflow hose. Iirc.
(Unsure if this relates to your year vehicle, but: https://www.tonkinonlineparts.com/showassembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=847403&ukey_make=1092&ukey_model=15869 )

I used to be a GM wrench. It’s both. Saw way, way too many cracked tanks in this era.
Sunbird interchange is Cavalier.

So I need to replace that little hose and the tank itself?

G M overflows of this era loved to crack at the anchor points - meaning, right where you see coolant. And there’s no way the hose sprayed that there. Liquid rolls down from the leak. Definitely do the hose and clamps while you’re in there too.

Trust me, replace every hose that has water in it. It’s not that hard or expensive and it will save you much trouble later.
